Lanterns of Hope

We’re working to bring the light show back, this time as a fundraiser for storm recovery.

2015–2023

What it was

From 2015 to 2023, a front yard on Sylvan Ramble Street in South Tampa hosted a synchronized holiday light show with thousands of individually controllable lights, flame, water, and smoke effects choreographed to music. Shows ran for Halloween and Christmas.

Early on, the yard also hosted a haunted house. About 300 people came through on one Halloween night.

Nearly every dollar raised went to other organizations—including more than $9,000 to Clothes To Kids, which provided more than 180 weekly wardrobes for children, and $9,014.45 to Where Love Grows to help fight child hunger.

The audience

The audience it built

A large crowd seated and standing on a lawn under oak trees, watching the light show at dusk.

Families came back year after year. Lanterns of Hope would build on that community.

What’s next

What it’s becoming

Lanterns of Hope is our plan for bringing the light show back as a fundraiser supporting FLP’s disaster-relief work. Sponsored lanterns would help fund recovery assistance for Florida families.

The original show outgrew a residential street, so bringing it back will require a venue, sponsors, volunteers, and a production crew.

If you may be able to help as a host site, sponsor, or volunteer, we’d like to hear from you.
