Beacons of Hope 2025: thank you

Our first gala brought together 49 supporters and 46 Florida businesses in support of FLP’s disaster-relief work.

On June 7, 2025, we held Beacons of Hope, our first gala. The evening featured seven courses inspired by different chapters of Florida history, alongside stories from families FLP helped during Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Guests heard Peter’s story of evacuating a dorm with a cat no shelter would take; Maria’s experience with roof damage and an SBA disaster loan she had not known was available to homeowners; and Amy’s story of facing two hurricanes 13 days apart with two children and three pets.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor also recorded a message recognizing grassroots disaster response.

What it raised

Forty-nine supporters gave $7,259, and 46 Florida businesses donated goods, experiences, and services to the silent auction.

The event did not reach its fundraising goal, but we are grateful to everyone who supported our first gala and helped bring it together.

What happens next

Our current focus is building reliable year-round support through the Lantern Keeper monthly giving program so FLP has resources available before the next storm.

Beacons of Hope will return after 2026.

Thank you to everyone who was part of the first one.
