Host a Supply Drive
The Lanterns for Jamaica campaign makes it easy for organizations of all sizes to take part in hurricane recovery after Hurricane Melissa. By hosting a supply drive, your organization can deliver real, tangible help to families rebuilding across Jamaica.
Hurricane recovery takes more than supplies, it takes people who care. When you host a drive or fundraiser with the Florida Lantern Project, you’re part of something that’s structured for long-term impact.
Every donation is verified and traceable, reaching real families through vetted partners like GEM and The Jamaica United Relief Association.
Supplies are matched to real needs identified by communities on the ground, not guesswork or generic lists.
Once your drive ends, your organization can stay engaged through our Adopt-a-School program, which connects your organization with a Jamaican school in need, identified by the Jamaican Ministry of Health.
And unlike one-size-fits-all charity models, our approach is personal and flexible. You can start small with a single collection bin or go big with a community dinner, cultural night, or benefit concert, all supported with ready-to-use materials and guidance from our team.
Getting started is simple!
Choose your location: Set up at your business, church, or school, or even collaborate with others in your hyper-local community.
Pick your dates: We recommend starting your drive ASAP. Most drives last 2 weeks and time is critical in disaster response!
Set your collection goals: After reviewing our current needs list, decide whether your drive will collect general supplies or focus on a specific category (like solar lighting or dog supplies). Setting a clear goal keeps your community motivated, and your results easy to celebrate!
Tell Us About Your Drive: Before you start collecting, take a minute to register your drive below. This lets the Florida Lantern Project team know where your drive is happening so we can list it on our community map, send additional resources, and coordinate logistics for pickup or drop-off when your drive wraps up.
Announce your drive: Spread the word and get your community involved! You can order free printed flyers and custom materials directly from the Florida Lantern Project or contact us to get custom ones made.
Schedule Your Pickup: Once your drive ends, our team will help to schedule a pickup directly from your location at no cost. We’ll confirm once your supplies are received and provide updates when they’re in transit to Jamaica.
Continue the Journey: Finishing your supply drive is just the beginning. After your drive, we’ll share how your donations made an impact and invite you to stay involved through our Adopt-a-School program. These one-on-one partnerships allow your organization to directly support rebuilding projects in Jamaica and receive updates from the community you’ve helped.
